Sergeant Alvin C. York Memorial Shoot
1993 ~ 2023
30th ANNIVERSARY C
ELEBRATION

Hello from the staff of the Sgt. Alvin C. York Memorial Shoot !!!

Can you believe this year is our 30th anniversary! On March 25th, 2023, we plan on a grand celebration honoring one of America's greatest heroes. It’s the shooters that have made this event successful for the past 30 years and we wish to thank you by presenting each registered shooter with a wonderful commemorative poster. An exciting addition, the Tennessee State Legislature has proclaimed and identified the “Tennessee Rifle” as the Tennessee State Historical Firearm. A bench copy of a famous original rifle by Baxter Bean, that resides in the Tennessee State Museum, is being built by Steve Genglebach and this special rifle will be unveiled at the shoot! Even the Governor has been invited to help recognize the historical accomplishment of this memorial event. Richard White, curator at the Tennessee State Museum will be present and have on exhibit several original Tennessee rifles, alongside the distinguished collection of Randal Pierce, President of the Kentucky Longrifle Foundation.

At 11:30 am CST the new Tennessee State Rifle will be unveiled and we will be paying tribute to the shoots longtime friend and former Park Ranger/Superintendent of the Alvin C. York Memorial Park, Andrew Jackson York.

This shoot is intended to be a reenactment of the shoots attended and held by Sergeant York. Although, dress of the day is not required to participate it is graciously encouraged.  It adds so much to the historical atmosphere of the day. For our 30th Anniversary we would like to reiterate period dress, with prizes being awarded for the best "Business/Sunday go-to-meetin" for both ladies and gentlemen and for "Work/Everyday" clothing for men and women  To allow staff to focus on scoring, pre-registration is graciously encouraged. On sight registration is $45. For safety, we have limited the event to 185 shooters. Only 100 shooters will be allowed on the line at a time, with shooting positions available on a first come first serve basis until the line limit is met. Each person must pick up their own targets and sign their copy of the safety and competitive rules.

There will be a special 30th Anniversary Trophy and meat prizes for the top finishers, and hamburger for the rest. Trophy’s and country hams will be presented to the “Best X” of each match. Donated prizes for the prize table have become a tradition and are greatly appreciated! Please be sure to put donors name on the prize so we will know who to properly thank.

Hope you’ll come be a part of this 30th Anniversary, share in the traditional camaraderie, the historic festivities, and generally to have fun. But let's not forget to have a well spirited and safe competition.

Thank you and hope to see you in Pall Mall.

The staff of the Sergeant Alvin C York Memorial Shoot.
